Good old Kanazawa

Good old Kanazawa

Was hard to leave Takayama. I came to really love the town. One more stop for custard and a Wagu beef skewer after two lots of pan cake for breakfast and I was ready to hit the road again.

My trainer has already hit me up about the food I’m eating. When you travel you do a lot of walking and because I had a 30kg pack to carry around for Nepal, this meant i was getting plenty exercise (well I keep telling myself anyway).

We hit the train through some beautiful surroundings to get to Kanazawa. The hotel truly showed us how small you can make a twin share room. We only need it for sleep anyways. We took off to do a tour around the fish market where I had some amazing oysters and see for the best sushi in my life!

Top that off with white strawberries and that’s a pretty damn good lunch.

After a meal like that we needed to burn it off so headed off to the Geisha distract where they use to work and got to see the old buildings they lived and worked in.

To finish off we walked back and had a break before trying the paces around the area for dinner. Can’t say it was anything great this time round. Unfortunately this hotel doesn’t allow tattoos in the onsen, which is totally respectable. So after wrapping myself up to look like a burn victim I was able to enjoy a bit of relaxing time before finishing the night with some gyoza.

Next day saw us hit the Ninja temple. Which has nothing to do with Ninja but a Nick name given for it construction and all of the passageways and traps it had. Unfortunately you weren’t allowed to take photos inside here.

You did however for the garden and castle we went to next. This were some amazing views and amazing what they built 400 years ago.

Was a full on afternoon so straight back to chill before having an amazing dinner called omorice and something I recon would blow up in New Zealand! A choice of your kind of flavored rice inside and omelette with toppings and other fillings. Was amazing!! And massive portions.
Time to go look like a burn victim again before crashing out and heading for Hiroshima.
